Bloopers & Blunders: What's the Funniest Thing (or Most Embarrassing) You've witnessed at an Event?

Updated: Aug 7, 2019

Dress Malfunctions. Fainting groomsmen. Drunken toasts. Kicks & trips.

Indoor Pond
Longfellows Hotel and Restaurant - Saratoga Springs, NY

I've seen them all. Wedding dress that come off too early, Best man revealing inappropriate information (TMI) about the groom, kid takes a bite out of the a 3-tiered wedding cake. Oh, there are so many. Upload any photos or videos you might have, and tell us your own stories. Here's my favorite blunder...

"TWO STEPS BACK"...

Filming a wedding in a beautiful indoor venue, with an outdoor feel. Complete with an indoor pond, and an amazing wood bridge crossing it for great couple photo opportunities. Time for the Cake cutting... Guest taking amateur video of the bride and groom cutting the cake. Lens not wide enough to the shot he wanted, so... he backed up, backed up some more, than... SPLASH! Into the pond he falls. Got it on video. I'm pretty sure I laughed before helping to pull him from his sea of embarrassment! Good stuff. If I can find the video, I'll post it.

OOPS, WRONG WEDDING!

One of my first video jobs in Albany took me to Birch Hill. Great place, amazing outdoor spaces.

So I'm filming bridal prep, great time, great family, great footage. There for an hour than take off for Birch Hill. I get there, set up (at that time I think my gear probably weighed more than myself), took me a good half hour. Captured great video of the guests awaiting the couple, guests great, waving to the camera. Good times, until...

THE BRIDAL BUS PULLED UP TO DELIVER THE WEDDING FAMILY, AND HONOREES...

They start unloading from the bus. And I'm like, hmmm. I don't remember these guys? Why not, I ask myself. I answer myself "because it's not the right wedding party you idiot!...

I grab all the gear, my 50lb tripod and 30lb camera. All my gear stuffed into a bag, and running around the property looking for someone I recognized! I finally found them, sweating to the bone, completely out of breath. Praying that it didn't start yet...

Happy Ending

I set up in minutes flat, just in time for the bride to arrive on her horse and carriage, and was able to regain my composure enough to film a beautiful outdoor ceremony. But, AHHHHHHH, sorry, I couldn't scream there, would have created an awful scene. Thanks for letting me get that out. Been holding that in for a long time.

ALL RIGHT NOW, LET'S HERE YOUR STORIES...
